There is the Skeena Junior boys basketball team with their coach Andy Lewis. The team recently took a second place finish at zones in Prince Rupert.

The Skeena Jr. Grade 8 boys basketball team finished its season with zone finals Feb. 18-19.

The Wildcats played their way to a second place finish against five other northwest teams.

Skeena's first two games on Friday were back-to-back wins over Thornhill Junior Secondary School and Bulkley Valley Secondary School from Smithers.

Saturday the team took on Kitimat's Mount Elizabeth Secondary School in a game, which started off slow but resulted in an eventual win, and put the Wildcats in the finals up against rivals the Prince Rupert Rainmakers.

In a game that started off tentative on both sides, Skeena had a lot of chances but couldn't make them count.

The Rainmakers won the match, and the zone title, putting the Wildcats in second place.

Tournament all-star was Tristan Walker.

The Wildcats were coached by Andy Lewis who said the Skeena team not only played well at zones, but had a great season overall.
