Provincial play for peewees

The peewee rep team has returned from provincials in Campbell River with a fifth place finish.

The peewee rep team has returned from provincials in Campbell River with a fifth place finish.

“These kids played their hearts out and represented their zone with a lot of spirit and drive,” said Lynne Nordstrom, president of the Terrace Minor Hockey Association (TMHA).

The team had some promising matches at provincials, beating out Kelowna 5-4 and Quesnel 10-6, before coming up with a 4-4 tie against Castlegar.

It was a 9-3 loss to Victoria, which tied Terrace in the standings with Castlegar.

Castlegar ended up as the team to advance when the decision came down to which team had fewer penalty minutes. Terrace had 24 and Castlegar had 18.

“TMHA is proud of our Pizza Hut Peewee Reps and their showing at Provincials,” Nordstrom said.

As the underdog in the zone all season, it was during the zone playoffs that the team really showed it deserved its spot representing the northwest by dominating the games and showing up prepared to play, she added.
