The third annual Guns and Hoses charity hockey game will take place Nov. 4.

The game sees local RCMP officers facing off against the Terrace Professional Firefighters for a good cause.

All of the money raised will go to JumpStart, a program that provides financial assistance to help local youngsters get into sports.

Our focus is it's local, and it's for kids,” said organizer Jeff Minhinnick, noting that all of the money raised stays in the community.

To date, the annual match has raised $15,000 to assist with sports costs in the area.

Minhinnick explains the importance of sports for children as an avenue to grow leadership and teamwork abilities, while boosting self-confidence – all important skills children can take with them throughout their lives.

Tickets are $5, and can be purchased from the Terrace firehall and Canadian Tire.

The game will take place at 7 p.m. at the Terrace sportsplex, and doors will open at 6 p.m.

Last year the RCMP took the win, with a 7-4 result over the firefighters.
