Fair play soccer awards given

Two Terrace boys soccer teams came home with fair play awards at this year’s B.C. Soccer Provincial Cup championships held in early July in Kamloops.

The boys U14 and boys U17 teams competed against teams from around the province.

The annual tournament of boys and girls teams in age categories from under 14 to under 18 is regarded as B.C.’s most accessible soccer competition.

This year 80 teams participated with more than 1,200 players, making it the largest event of its kind to date.

The girls compete for the Girls Provincial B Cut and the boys for the Les Sinnott Memorial Boys Provincial B Cup.

Sinnott, a Terrace resident, held local and provincial soccer executive positions. He passed away in 2012.
