Bantam girls stun Cranbrook in first game of provincials

Solid goaltending by the Terrace team kept Cranbrook at bay

The Terrace team came out flying in their game versus the Cranbrook team at the provincial championship tournament in Vernon on March 17, winning 10-0.

The score, however, is not indicative of the game played by the Cranbrook team. They played hard and had lots of shots on net but were held scoreless by the Terrace goaltender.

Three players from the Terrace team scored all but one of the 10 goals and were dominant players on the ice. Captain Sage Desjardins had 4 goals and 2 assists, Marissa Nichol had 2 goals, 4 assists and Taylor Beck had 3 goals. Myah Bowal scored one and assisted on 3. Other players assisting on goals were Bailey Kasum and Caitlyn Ray had 2 assists each, Deborah Wraight and Cassidy Brougton, 1 assist each. Shots on goal Terrace 42, Cranbrook 30.

Terrace meets Kamloops today and then will see some fierce competition against the top-ranked North Shore Female team tomorrow, March 19.
