Here’s to the teachers and staff at Ecole Jack Cook.
Several weeks ago our grandson told us that his school wanted him to have an emergency kit.
This would have two to three days supply of bottled water, non-perishable canned and dry foods and a dollar for a blanket which the school would provide.
The idea is that in the event of some unforeseen disaster, he would have his basic life sustaining needs fulfilled until help could get to him.
It is a small investment that only takes a little time to prepare.
It most likely will never be used or needed.
It takes no more space than a large lunch kit and yet in the unlikely event of some natural disaster it could be so critically important.
We buy insurance all the time never expecting to need it – auto insurance, house insurance and life insurance.
We consider it thoughtful and prudent to do so.
Given recent events in Haiti and New Zealand, we are so pleased that the staff of our grandson’s school thought to put together this little insurance policy.
I encourage other parents and grandparents and schools to do the same.
