Form and fusion merges 26 years of multiculturalism, diversity and volunteers in Terrace. “Rock” is an exact metaphor describing volunteer strength in Terrace.
Jane Dickson says there has been great effort put forth by past and present volunteers who have contributed to every annual multiculturalism association potluck dinner.
As a group we decided this year’s theme “Enriching our community, one volunteer at a time” is our way of giving recognition to the volunteer community.
Dickson mentions this year we have had tremendous help from the cultural advisory committee, a volunteer group associated with Skeena Diversity.
Lilian Bramley described the group effort as cohesion working in tandem, like arms of a clock.
There is excitement with this blend of diversity, multiculturalism, and volunteer effort, displaying the rich fabric of our multicultural community.
Kam Siemens from Investors Group mentions we are all multicultural – look at where your parents, grandparents or even great-grandparents come from, yes, Canada is a melting pot of culture.
Lilian Bramley says similarities not differences bring people together and most important is the equation of fun which equals positive energy, and we want, and need that.
Speaking of positive energy, Angelica Powell and Kam Siemens were ecstatic about the performance lineup at marked the April 16 potluck dinner.
Terrace’s Latin performers showcased traditional dances, followed by the enticing and exotic sounds of Banghra. Other performances brought down the house.
The end result shows the formation of diverse people, who have fused their skills and have created a spectacular event that the Terrace community will enjoy for many years to come.
