In Loving Memory of Rose Wold

April 23rd 1916 - August 24th 2011

Rose was born in Watrus, Sask., the second daughter of John and Oline Braathen who had emigrated from Norway. She grew up in Vilna-Bellis area north of Edmonton where she met and married her husband of 60 years, Karl Wold.

They with their son, James, moved to Giscome B.C. in 1939 and to Terrace in 1942 where they raised their family of four children. Rose worked as a clerk in the Post Office for 17 years most of which was prior to postal delivery and her skills at remembering faces, families, and their postal box number were impressive.

Rose and Karl retired to live in Parksville for 14 good years when they travelled, enjoyed family visits, square danced, attended church, gardened, and generally enjoyed life. They then moved to Oliver where they enjoyed another 10 years in the warmer and drier climate.

After Karl passed away in 1998 Rose moved back to Terrace to be closer to family. She lived on her own until she was 90 and then was admitted to Terraceview Lodge where she was ever so loved and cared for.

The staff and residents became another extended family and Rose’s family would like to express how grateful we are for the love and care she received. There were many “Rosie “ stories.

Rose passed away peacefully in the morning of one of our few sunny days in her room at Terraceview. She is predeceased by her husband Karl and their daughter, Dorothy.

Leaves to mourn and to celebrate her good and long life are: Son, James, wife Donna, and family; Daughter, Aveline McConnell, husband Gordon, and family; Son, Clarence, wife Jeannie, and family; Granddaughter Sharon Schooler and daughter Hannah.

A Memorial Service was held August 29, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Terrace with Gordon and Bertha Watmough officiating.

She loved and was loved and will be missed.
