April 28, 1926 - September 20, 2003
Born in Prince Rupert to Rose & George Thain, Bill is survived by his loving wife Gwenda (Jennifer), son Danny (Nancy), Daughters Laurie, and Tammy (Peter Vogt), Sister Mavis Haugan, Rusty (Bert) Ljungh, Kathleen (Raymond) Turner, eleven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother George in 1978.
After a short stint in the army, Bill began his business career in Prince Rupert as a partner in a garage and car dealership. In the early fifties, Bill moved to Terrace and along with his brother George started the business of Thains’ Trucking working on the roads at the Kitimat Townsite. Ready for a change in 1980, Bill bought a boat and went to work as a fisherman, settling in a home on Digby Island which Bill and Gwenda totally renovated. In the eighties, they moved south to Sechelt.
Bill fought a long battle with Parkinsons’ Disease and passed away peacefully in St. Mary’s Hospital. Family and friends gathered at his home for a memorial on September 25, 2003 where his son Danny told of Bills zest for life and the many interests he pursued. Written memories by his daughters Laurie and Tammy were read at the scattering of the ashes on the beach at Sechelt Harbour.
Rest in Peace Bill - Your Loving Family
