Theophile Hyacinthe Cam

February 9, 1930 – August 18, 2019
Theo passed away peacefully, in his home, the morning of August 18th. Theo will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Helene (nee LeDevehat); son Rene (Sharon), grandsons Javen (Bailey) and Julian; son Daniel (Nathalie), granddaughters Hannah, Danicah, Nathania, Nadina, Avryl; son Philippe (Michale), grandchildren Dominic, Kaleigh, Daroyle, great- grandson Greyson; daughter Josiane (Glenn), grandchildren Ryan (Cassandra) and family; Dan (Alison) and family, Brittany, Ethan; son Pascal (Anuschka), granddaughter Katrina; daughter Denise (Bertrand), grandchildren Alyssa, James, Anthony.
Theo was born on Ile Molene, France to Arsene Cam and Marie Cuillandre. He was one of three children and the only son. He immigrated to Canada November 17, 1951 from Havre, France. The boat docked at St. John, New Brunswick, November 28, 1951. He officially met the love of his life, Helene LeDevehat, in Kitimat, BC and they were married September 17, 1960 in St. Claude, Manitoba. They settled in Terrace, BC to raise their children.
Theo came to Canada a fisherman but made his career out of logging, forming his company Cam Contracting Co. Ltd. He was a devoted Roman Catholic, volunteering his time with the church, namely as a Eucharistic Minister and ministering to the sick.
Theo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend. He was an incredibly faithful, honest and trustworthy man, filled with integrity and modesty. He was always there to be a helping hand or provide words of wisdom. He was the happiest when with family and friends and especially at peace when on the water fishing or soaking in the ocean air. Family was very important to Theo and he loved having everyone together for family gatherings.
Theo loved going to his cabin with Helene on Lakelse Lake and spending quality time with her. Whether they were fishing, enjoying the scenery or savoring a glass of wine; if they were together, it was special.
In Theo’s words, “Si tu es heureux, je suis heureux” (if you’re happy, I’m happy). Please spread some happiness in his memory.
