Our precious Mom has passed away ... Sybil was born in Vancouver & moved to Kelowna as a teenager, where her parents opened a bowling alley. She met the love of her life, Bill Benzer, in 1951, at a Regatta in Osoyoos. They were married in Vancouver in 1958. They moved to Terrace in 1963, where they raised 3 children & lived out the rest of their lives.

Mom enjoyed working for the school board office in Terrace from 1971 to 1997. She was a fun loving person, always finding joy in everything she did. Square dancing, music festival, community performances & events, Knox united church, playing games, reading, volunteering, travelling, gardening, cooking, walking, spending time with friends, family & neighbours were among her favorite things. She spent much happy time with her 6 grandkids. She was a proud Grandma, attending as many of their activities as she possibly could.

She is predeceased by her husband Bill Benzer, brother-in-law Joe Benzer, & niece Julie Boyce.

She is survived by her loving children: Carla & Don McColl, Nancy & Ron Ross, Russell & Beth Benzer, all of Terrace; her grandchildren: Andrew (Courtney), Kenny (Lenay) & Eric McColl; Brianna, Nadia (Sam), & Marlee Benzer. She is also survived by her loving brother Ted & Cathy Rabone of Surrey, brother-in-laws: Ernie & Kaye Benzer of Kelowna, Art & Gail Benzer of Montrose. She also has 10 nieces & nephews & their families who were so very dear to her.

To honour & respect Mom's wishes, no service will be held. Please feel free to remember her life how you wish... there are so many happy memories.

We would like to thank all of Mom's friends, & our families, friends & co-workers who have been so supportive. Most especially, we would like to sincerely thank & acknowledge ALL of the staff at Terraceview Lodge. Mom suffered with Alzheimer's disease for many years, making Terraceview her home for the past 9 years. She received exceptional care & respect, & we always felt welcomed there. We were so happy to still be able to be part of her life. We made many good friends while spending time there ... we will always be so appreciative & grateful for the care & compassion you have all provided. Thank you also to Dr. Strydom for always showing respect for Sybil.

Her loss will take much getting used to for us, but we know she is at peace now ... forever remembered, & forever loved.

For those interested, & because Community meant so much to her, donations in Sybil's memory can be made to:
