In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Janice Thomas. Rose left us peacefully on Monday May 6 at Mills Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Rose is survived by her husband Clarence "Bud" Hallock, her children Barbara, Garnet (Darlene Godfrey), and Crystal (Greg Linton), and her most beloved grandchildren Nathan Krauza, Graeme Linton, and Anna Linton.

Rose was born in Shoal Lake and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. From a young age, she adored sports beginning with competitive canoeing, and later in life partaking in golf, bowling, horseshoes, and curling. A devoted Blue Bombers fan, she cheered passionately for her team her entire life. She had deep friendships that she made through sport and all the photos show Rose laughing with her pals..

After landing for a brief period in Calgary, Alberta, she and her first husband Eugene Herbert Thomas had their daughter, Barbara, in 1963. She and Gene moved to Terrace in the fall of 1963. Garnet and Crystal came along in 1965 and 1966 respectively. She and Gene raised their family and made Terrace their home. Gene passed away in 1985.

In the late 90's, Rose found love again with Bud and they eloped in 2009. Together they enjoyed numerous travel adventures around the world, family visits throughout North America, and activities at home. Her gregarious nature made her a pleasure to be around, and she surrounded herself with many friends of all ages and walks of life. Her friends will know her as a crafty cribbage player, competitive and happy to win, and cheeky when facing a solid skunking. Lifelong, Rose had a love for music, and she supported the Terrace musical arts with contributions to the Pacific Northwest Music Festival, Terrace Community Band, and Terrace Symphony Orchestra.

Rose, at her essence, was love. She had a deep passion for flowers, finding joy in their beauty and fragrance, but roses were always her favourite. Rose will be remembered fondly for her love of family, her vibrant spirit, and her zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her family and friends. She was loved dearly, and she will be deeply missed.

There will be a celebration of Rose's life on Sunday, 1-3 pm July 14 2024 at the golf course. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Terrace Community Foundation in Rose's honour.
