It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Schmidt on January 28, 2018.
Ron was born in Calgary Alberta on April 14, 1937 to David and Bertha Schmidt. His early years were spent in Creston, Lamming Mills and Lac La Hache. He moved to Terrace in 1974 and started Schmitty's Excavating but his real passion was for racing, and anything to do with cars. Ron was successful in everything he did as he approached every venture with passion and determination.
Ron loved life and all his family and friends, he loved to laugh, talk cars, watch Nascar, go camping and build the largest campfires but his biggest pleasure came from sharing his passions with friends and family. He loved his home and found joy in growing the best of everything in his garden.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Charmaine, children Liane (Donald), Sandy (Barry), Brenda, Jodi and Sam, grandchildren Cody, James, Tansy, Tyler, Jayden, and Courtney and great grandchildren Annika, Sophia, and Preston. Ron will also be greatly missed by his sisters Phyliss and Reta and nephews Gerry and Don.
A celebration of life will be held at the Thornhill Pub on Friday February 9, 2018 from 2 PM - 4 PM.
