December 13, 1954 - May 19, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Harry" Simpson on May 19, 2024. Harry passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many during his 69 years.
Harry was born on December 13, 1954, in Hazelton, BC to William (Harry) and Clara Simpson. It was growing up in Hazelton with his two siblings where he built the strong connections to friends, family, and community that he would maintain throughout his life. After graduating high school, 17-year-old Harry moved to Terrace. A dedicated and hard-working man, Harry remained with the same company for over 38 years before retiring to spend his time travelling, pursuing his many interests, and rarely missing a Toronto Blue Jays game. Harry ultimately lived in Terrace for 52 years and was a consistent fixture at the golf course, curling rink, pickleball court, cross-country ski trails and local mountains.
Harry will be remembered as an active member of the community who was always the first person to volunteer, to visit someone when they were sick, and to cheer on or coach a local sports team. He was known for his contagious laughter, his sense of humor and love of a good prank, and as a storyteller with endless interesting facts to share.
Harry is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Joelle, Conor, and Scott; his grandchildren, Madden, Evie and Xavier; his siblings, George Simpson and Verlinda Wale; and numerous nieces and nephews (and great-nieces and nephews). While Harry's loss cannot be measured, we are grateful that so many people were lucky enough to know him, hear his stories, and share a joke with him over the years.
