It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Richard (Rich) Kerr.

Richard is survived by his children Chris (Amy), Greg, Step-daughters Teressa (Greg), Lauri (Mike), grandchildren Gabe, Alba, Luckas, Alexandria, Allison, Ava, Kendra, Jessica and cousins Flora & Andy. He is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Rita Kerr, and stepfather Jens Nielsen.

Richard was born in Terrace in March 1948 and was the first baby born at the first hospital of Terrace. His grandfather Alexander Kerr was an early pioneer settler who came to Terrace with his wife Flora in 1908. The family ran Kerr & Sons Orchards and fruit farm near the Skeena river on Keith Avenue, where Richard lived throughout his childhood.

Richard attend Saint George's private school in Vancouver for a number of years before moving on to attending the University of British Columbia. He returned to Terrace after his education was complete where he had a long career in forestry and industrial work as a heavy duty equipment operator. Richard's career took him to various locations, including Mexico for a number of years.

Richard loved old cars and enjoyed traveling all over the world. He had an amazing circle of friends in Terrace, and loved his family, often travelling long distances to spend time with his kids & grandkids. Richard will be missed by all who knew him.

Any expressions of sympathy may be sent in memory of Richard to the Kimmunity Angels of Terrace.

Richard's family invites friends to gather to remember him on Saturday, May 18th, 11 am at the Knox United Church in Terrace.
