Ray Skoglund

Ray Skoglund passed away at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C. on December 30th, 2002 at the age of 86. He was born in Salvador, Saskatchewan on April 30th, 1916

Ray was pre-deceased by his first wife Georgette in 1977. He is survived by their four children - Joan (Roger) of Denman Island, David (Moyra) of Kelowna, Carolyn of Lethbridge, and Alice (Mel) of Terrace, 10 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren as well as his second wife Connie, her four children and 5 grandchildren.

Ray was one of Terrace’s logging pioneers, arriving in 1951 and starting Skoglund Logging, a company that had over 150 employees. He is also known for developing Lakelse Hotsprings.

A memorial service for Ray at Victory Memorial Funeral Home in Surrey ended on a joyful note with people joining in on one of Ray’s favorite old hymns “Shall We Gather At the River”.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held for all of his friends in the north at Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club in Terrace on July 12, 2003.

Ray loved life to the fullest and will be missed a great deal by his

family and friends.
