It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved father, Peter (Pete) Ruygrok. He passed away peacefully amongst his children and the caring Staff at Terraceview Lodge on Friday, June 15th, just shy of his 96th birthday. A service was held at Sacred Heart Parish on Tuesday, June 19th.

The eldest son of 8 siblings, he is survived by his sister, Tiny, in the Netherlands, and his brother, John, in Kamloops, B.C.

Peter emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in 1952 and with his motorcycle, traveled to B.C., where he later met and married his late wife, Anne. After a short stint in the lower mainland, they moved to Kitimat and Peter began work at Alcan Aluminum Ltd. Four years later they moved to Terrace and soon settled on a hobby farm on Graham Avenue. A very hard worker, Peter worked the farm and commuted to work at Alcan, where he was a welder/pot repair man, for 32 years.

Peter will be fondly remembered by his son, Andy (Sherry), and his four daughters, Rita (Bill), Dorothy (Danny), Vera (Alan), and Betty (James). He was a loving Grandpa to seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

We were blessed to have had so many years with our giving, caring, great story teller, quiet man of faith and loving family-man we called "Dad" and "Grandpa".
