JOHNSTON— Paul Francis
1938 - 2005
It is with sad hearts that the family of Paul Johnston announces his passing at the age of 67, with his family by his side on Thursday, October 13, 2005.
Born in Terrace, B.C, Paul was a kind, gentle, pragmatic husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was an accomplished geologist, devoting thirty-five years to Chevron in the fields of micropaleontology and sedimentology and consulting since his retirement in 1995. He was an outdoorsman with an adventurous spirit. Whether traveling in Australia, hiking in Banff or driving across the country, Paul approached it all with a well-formed plan — which resulted in a more fulfilling and enriched experience for those who were lucky enough to be with him. His resolve and grace in the final days and weeks of his life were inspirational, and he taught those who encountered him a better way. Loving husband, friend and travel mate to wife Victoria (nee Stechkewich) of forty-one years; most loved father and mentor to Jeff and daughter-in-law Denise of Toronto. He is survived by brothers Michael, John (Maria), David (Audrey), Albert (Della), and Robert (Arleen); sisters Delphine (Murray), Florence (Wayne), Jeanne (Michael), Agnes (Lawrence), Margaret (Dave) and Roberta (Carl), brothers-in-law Steve (Molly), and Richard (Lisa), sisters-in-law Dolly and Audrey and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Marie, sisters Estelle, Theresa and Susan, brother Patrick and brothers-in-law Chris and Murray.
In accordance with Paul’s wishes a Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (Lower Springbank Road and 17th Avenue SW ).
