Paul Adrian Burton

August 25, 2007

Paul Adrian BURTON

It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Adrian Burton announces his passing. Working in construction throughout his career had Paul calling many towns home throughout B.C., Alberta and the Yukon but he spent many years in Terrace. Always game to champion a cause for the underdog whenever the opportunity arose, he volunteered where he could, and helped many who had no one.  A self-diagnosed workaholic, he enjoyed fishing the banks of the Skeena (waiting to hear that damned bell ring!!!)  when he had the chance.

Paul had been residing in the beautiful countryside just outside Creston BC, with the deer, elk, wild turkeys, and his favorite chickadees roaming his yard. (His idea of heaven!)  He was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer in March this year, and choose to spend his final months doing what he loved most: spending the time he had with his family and in the great outdoors of the Kootneys.

He fought courageously, more concerned with how his illness might affect those around him than he was for himself. He finally lost this battle on Saturday, August 25th, in Kaslo BC, with his daughter Angela, grandson Hugo, and sister Leila at his side.

Paul was predeceased by his father Adolphus, mother Mary, and brother Richard (Dick).  He leaves behind his first wife Cecile, daughters Angela Burton (Dietmar) and  Danielle Lavoie (Steve) and son Guy Burton, Grandchildren Nathan, Cassidy, Maddox, Kya and Hugo, sisters Leila and May, and Leilas brother Bob. He did not wish for a service, and in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada.
