March 21, 1953 - September 24, 2024

In loving memory ~

Patricia Lauren Chapman passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2024. Born on March 21st in 1953 in Terrace, British Columbia, she was the daughter of Raymond and Colleen Sande.

Patricia "Patti" Lauren Chapman was a beloved community member whose roots ran deep in the town. Patti graduated from Caledonia Senior Secondary School in 1971 and later pursued a pharmacy degree at the University of British Columbia. Upon completing her training, she returned to Terrace to begin her lifelong career as a community pharmacist at Northern Drugs and Northern Healthcare.

Beyond the pharmacy, Patti ran diabetic education clinics and volunteered her time at Terraceview Lodge, all while raising four boys (Daniel, Christopher, Jeff, and Stephen) with her husband, Bruce Chapman. Despite retiring early due to illness in the 2000s, Patti's commitment to community service never waned. She joined the Terrace and District Community Services Society board from 2009 to 2016 and served on the Terrace Public Library Board, including a term as chair, even as her health challenges continued.

Patti was exceptionally devoted to her family. As a mother, Patti was deeply involved in her children's lives, supporting their extracurricular activities, science fairs, and sports interests. Patti loved the Terrace area, spending winters taking her children skiing and snowboarding at Shames Mountain, and spent countless days in the summer at Lakelse Lake enjoying it with her family and children, and later with her grandchildren.

In her teenage years in Terrace Patti learned to fly and with a private pilots license; she flew her father's Super Cub locally, not just on wheels and on skis in winter but also on floats off Lakelse Lake. A few years later as a young woman, she earned her private helicopter pilots license in the Yukon and flew the "Bell" helicopter both in the Yukon and in the Terrace area. Flying was an important part of Patti's early years.

Patti will be remembered for her warmth and unwavering commitment to her community and family. Patti is survived by her brothers Al and Ernie, her husband Bruce, her four sons Dan, Chris, Jeff, and Stephe, and her six grand-children. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terrace Public Library in her memory.
