March 5, 1944 - August 21, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Neal Lindseth. He passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018 at VGH Hospital in Vancouver with his wife and granddaughter at his side. Born in Prince Rupert on March 5, 1944 to Edwin Lindseth and Kathleen Lindseth nee Kielbach. Neal spent his early years in Prince Rupert graduating in 1963 from PRSS. Following high school, he attended the University of Victoria for a year and

realized that was not the path for him. He went to NAIT in Edmonton the following year to take Power Mechanical Engineering. After completing his program, he joined his father at Bytown Diesel Ltd. in Prince Rupert. In 1966, with his father, Neal established Bytown Diesel Sales in Terrace at 4445 Greig Avenue, building a new shop in 1969. While in Edmonton, Neal met the love of his life and partner Catherine Dechaine, a nursing student at Misericordia Hospital. They married in 1967, following her graduation. They continued to live and enjoy life in Terrace and raised three children and just last fall, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. When the shop on Greig Avenue became too small, Neal oversaw the construction of another shop on Highway 16 West in 1970. The name changed to Terrace Freightliner, which burnt down in 1995 and was rebuilt that same year. Neal was always active in the Catholic Church and Veritas School where his children and grandchildren attended. Neal has always been humble and generous. During his years in Terrace, he led a full and active community life. For several years, Neal was an active Lion's Club member, active with the local swim club and supported other clubs and events within the community. Following his retirement, Neal became very involved with the local Churches Food Bank.

Neal leaves to mourn his wife Catherine; daughter Teresa (Mike); son Christopher (Lindsay); daughter Alison; his brother Rick ( Kim); grandchildren Katie (Andrew), Deborah, MJ, Regan, Marlee, Grace, Aboubacar, Hawa and Eliana; plus, several sister and brother in laws, numerous nieces and nephews and many very good friends. He was predeceased by his father Edwin Lindseth in 1996 and his mother Kathleen Kielbach Lindseth in 2016.

A funeral mass took place on September 1, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Church in Terrace, officiated by Father James. JD. Sac followed by internment in the Terrace Cemetery and a reception at the St Michael's room.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers that any donation be made in Neal's name to The Churches Food Bank.
