July 4, 2021
With great sadness we announce the passing of Myroslaw (Myron) Wolos. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on July 4th.
Myron is survived by his 3 daughters Irene, Carolyne and Roslyne (Grant). He was pre-deceased by his wife Edna in 1996 and his brother Stephen Wolos in 2001.
Born in Zolkwa, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine in (1928), as a teenager, Myron escaped from Nazi occupation to the west, enlisting in the British army and returning to join the fight to free his homeland, seeing action in Italy and Germany during World War II. After the war he joined the reserves, continuing to serve with distinction in England, but more importantly, it was there he met the love of his life, Edna Trebillcock who, as a W.R.E.N. served with the British Navy. They married October 3rd, 1953, and soon after their first child, Irene was born.
Myron came to Canada in 1956 to work at Alcan in Kitimat, then brought his family from England, settling in Terrace in 1958. There the family grew with the arrival of Carolyne and Roslyne. He would later settle in Kitwanga, and it was here Myron found his new home, going to work in the logging industry, then for Canadian Cellulose/Weststar Lumber as a tally man until his retirement.
Myron loved his new home, saying there was no better place in the world to live. He loved fishing, gardening, prospecting, and winning at Bingo in his spare time, all while raising a family, running a farm, and becoming an integral part of the community.
More importantly his number one priority was his family. Fiercely protective, he valued them above all else and was the anchor they looked to for guidance, leadership, and direction. Myron was very generous in spirit and had many valued friends. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends in Canada, England, and the Ukraine. We love you Dad.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Myron's name to The Kordyban Lodge-Canadian Cancer Society, 1100 Alward St., Prince George, BC, V2M-7B1.
