Monique Bélanger

September 13, 1966 - March 8, 2008

Monique Claudia Bélanger, born September 13, 1966, passed away suddenly on March 8, 2008, in the serenity of the outdoors, which she so dearly loved.

Monique was born and raised in the beautiful community of Kitimat, a town whose rugged beauty was her lifelong playground. Monique first attended St. Anthony’s School and then graduated from MESS in 1984. In 1989, Monique’s life would be forever changed by the arrival of her beautiful son Dylan. Dylan was the love of Monique’s life. She brought up Dylan to be an exceptional individual, cultivating a young man who is loving, creative, adventurous, and so incredibly talented.

Monique loved and was loved by so many people. She relentlessly spent her life trying to please and enrich people’s lives, in her own special way. Her friends and family were her life. Monique possessed this special gift for being able to see the beauty in people, and never hesitated to compliment you on what your gift was.

Monique’s vibrant personality and healthy glow will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her son Dylan, dad Léon (Patsy), sisters Kim (Don) and Debbie (Dave), brother Darrell (Sonia), and many other friends and family. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Jackie Bélanger (nee Harmel) in 2004.

In memory of Monique, take some time, go outside, and listen to the birds. Remember the simplicity of what her life represented: both loving and appreciating all those around her, and reveling in the dazzling display of nature that moved her so passionately.
