In loving memory ~
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Kaye Ehses; Children Perry-John (Paula), Robin, and Maya; Grandchildren Kayla (Dakota), Marlee, and Thomas; Great grandchildren Claire, Ali, and Faith.
Born in Zeltingen, Germany, Matt started his career as a pastry chef and moved to Canada in 1956 to continue his passion.
Matt and Kaye met in 1971, and moved to Terrace in 1976 where Matt continued working as a pastry chef.
Matt and Kaye opened Northern Lights Studio shortly after moving to Terrace, in which they made their living until retirement.
Along with their beautiful Japanese Gardens which hosted many weddings & graduations.
Matt loved to keep busy and worked hard, even after retirement. He had many hobbies and was skilled in woodworking, stained glass, baking, and gardening. Most of all, Matt loved music and to sing.
A passionate, hard-working family man with a quick wit and great sense of humour, he kept us laughing until the end, with a smile that would light up the room.
He cultivated many beautiful lifelong relationships leading with kindness and care to everyone he met.
Matt is missed dearly by many.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to The Sunshine Centre for providing care and support in Matt's later years, and indeed bringing music and sunshine into his life.
"WE'LL SING IN THE SUNSHINE,
WE'LL LAUGH EVERYDAY,
WE'LL SING IN THE SUNSHINE,
AND I'LL BE ON MY WAY"
