CELEBRATION OF LIFE

October 27, 1935 - December 30, 2009

A Celebration of Life will be held for Marlene Traviss, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Kohan Garden, located at the end of lst Avenue, in New Denver, B.C., south of Centennial Park, on the shores of Slocan Lake.

Marlene passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2009 at Slocan Community Healthcare Centre in New Denver. Marlene was born to Leighton and Eileen Traviss on October 27, 1935. She is predeceased by her brother Harry in 1997, mother Eileen in 1994 and father Leighton in 1991. Marlene is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley, niece Darlene, nephew Stephen and their children and many dear friends. Marlene’s friends were like family to her.

Marlene graduated as a nurse from Royal Columbian Hospital in 1958, attended UBC in 1962 and later got her degree at UVIC. Her career as a Public Health Nurse for over 35 years was a very important part of her life and enabled her to live a many communities in B.C and the Yukon. Her diverse experience also enabled her to implement health programs in many of those communities.

Marlene enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading and cooking in her spare time. She was also interested in geneaology. She especially enjoyed her time with her family and friends. Marlene had a zest for life and always found humour to be the best medicine! Marlene will be missed and fondly remembered.
