March 4, 1928 – August 17, 2009
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Marjorie Elizabeth Cromarty. Marjorie was born on March 4th 1928 in Verdun, Quebec.
Marjorie is pre-deceased by her husband Howard C. Cromarty, her brothers Murray and William Kennedy, and her sister Joan Wright. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jana Edwards of Dawson Creek, BC, Joy Cathers (Dave) of Inuvik, NWT, Patti Gough (George) of Terrace, BC, and Margot Duteau (Lou) of Victoria, BC. She is also survived by her step-children, Leslie Mogg and Halvor (Teena) Cromarty, and by her brother Allen Kennedy (Selma) and her 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Marjorie was a kind, generous and spiritual person, who cared deeply for others. Her grandchildren meant the world to her as did her family. Marjorie was a long time resident of Terrace, BC where she was a tireless volunteer for both St. Matthews Anglican church, and Branch 13 of the Royal Canadian Legion, where she held several positions in the Ladies Auxiliary, including President.
Marjorie’s gift was her ability to create amazing meals, whether for Camp Caledonia campers, her many brides, or the Premier of British Columbia. Together, she and Howard founded Cromarty and Company Catering and enjoyed many years of success.
Marjorie passed away on August 17th, 2009 in Victoria, BC, where she was being cared for by the wonderful staff at The Lodge at Broadmead. She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lodge at Broadmead Victoria, BC, St. Matthews Anglican Church, Terrace, BC or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13.
A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Terrace on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 at 4:00 pm. Following the service, there will be a dinner and dance to celebrate Marjorie’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13.
