It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Maria (Elly) Onstein. She has gone to join her pre-deceased husband, Joe Onstein (November 28, 2007).
Elly was born on January 22, 1933 in Geleen, Netherlands. She was the eldest of eleven children. Elly immigrated to Canada in 1954 to join the love of her life, Joe Onstein. Following their marriage in Terrace, they moved to Prince Rupert where Rose and Rob were born. The family moved back to Terrace in 1963. Elly and Joe loved travelling and visiting family in Holland. Elly especially enjoyed the winters they spent in Arizona.
Elly will be greatly missed by: Rose (Gerry) and Rob (Kathie)
Grandchildren: Jessica (David), Ryan (Megan), Curt and Sarah (Dirk)
Great Grandchildren: Claire and Josephine
6 surviving siblings in Holland and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the friends and many Home Support Workers that supported Elly over the past many years. Thanks also go to Dr. Hynd, Dr. Mooney and the staff at Mills Memorial who looked after Elly more recently.
A funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Terrace, BC on Tuesday, October 15th
She will be forever in our hearts.
