It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our loving mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt and friend at the age of 90 in Prince George, BC
Maria was predeceased by her husband Ernesto Jacinto. She is survived by her children Maria Skuce (Rick) of Prince George, Jose Carreiro (Geraldine) of Terrace, Bella Marrello (Carlo) of Toronto and grandchildren Ryan, Brandon, Chad, Quinn and Amber, brother Juan Paulo of (Massachusetts) and brother-in-law Simon Carreiro (Aline) of (Winnipeg).
Maria was born September 18, 1925 in Bretanha, Acores. She met and married her husband in 1962 and had three children. Maria immigrated to Canada in 1972 following her husband and settled in Terrace raising their family. Maria loved cooking, baking, gardening, children and all animals. She was well known in the community for her special Portuguese custard cupcakes. Later in life her husband and she enjoyed spending their weekends at the farmers market where they met many people from the community at their booth. She also loved traveling and made it back to Acores many times. Her life was dedicated to her family and her church and the Portuguese community.
Maria's funeral was held on a beautiful summer morning of July 7th, 2016 at Sacred Heart Parish. Father Xavier officiated; Pallbearers, John Soares, Mario Furtado, Don Wiley, grandsons Ryan and Chad Skuce and honorary Pallbearer Jose Craveiro.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered comfort, prayers and support at this sad time. Special thanks in Terrace to Dr. Moolman for the many years of wonderful care he offered our mother along with the home care workers, Father Xavier and Gorette Pires from Sacred Heart Parish, Debbie and Edith from Mackay Funeral Home.
