February 4, 1928 - December 1, 2019
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Louise Parmenter. She is preceded in death by parents W. Herbert Spencer and Jane Guthrie Spencer, sister Jean Benedict and
brother Herbert Spencer. She is survived and dearly missed by Don, her husband of nearly 73 years; children Elaine (George), Eileen (Del, grandchildren Daniel and William), Don Jr. (Mary, grandchildren MariClare, Don, Trisha and Tracey) and Betty (Dominic, grandchildren Brian
and Sandra); niece Molly Spencer, nephews John Benedict and Greg Spencer plus relatives and many friends.
Louise was born in Salmon, Idaho and immigrated to Terrace, BC with her husband, Don, shortly after their marriage in 1946 where they resided until retiring to Rosswood in 1978. They spent 30 enjoyable years homesteading their Rosswood acreage and moved back to Terrace in 2009. Louise loved reading, quilting, gardening, researching family history and travelling.
Her Terrace volunteer activities included 10 years with the Girl Guides and Brownies as Troop Leader and Guide Commissioner, 25+ years playing organ and piano at Knox United Church and volunteering with the Knox United Church Preschool. While in Rosswood, Louise and Don were instrumental in helping establish the Rosswood Community Association and getting land and then building the hall. She also held various positions with the Association.
The family would like to extend their thanks to their friends and the doctors, nurses and professional care providers that cared for Louise over the past 6 months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dr. R.E.M. Lee Hospital Foundation (4720 Haugland Ave, Terrace, BC V8G 2W7) in Louise's name.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Knox United Church, 4709 Lazelle Ave., Terrace, BC on Saturday, Dec. 14th at 2 pm.
