Lawrence Pruden, known to friends and family as "Larry" passed away on April 8, 2018, at the age of 101 years, in Comox BC.

Larry was the eldest son of Owen and Mabel Pruden, and was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1916. He was predeceased by his younger brothers Howard and Ralph.

Larry joined the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corp., a division of the Canadian Forces, on Jan 2nd, 1940, and found himself in England by January 8th, 1940. After several temporary moves, he was put up in charge of the supply vehicles for the Canadian Army, and was stationed in Bordon, where he met and married Muriel

Pruden (nee Hall) on Sept 14, 1942. Their eldest daughter Carolyn was born in Hindhead, England in 1946.

They moved to Canada and settled in Oliver BC, where their second daughter Dale was born in 1948. After moving to Terrace BC, in 1953, and their only son David was born in 1957. Larry established his own Insurance and Real Estate company, and in addition, was appointed as a Magistrate and Coroner for the Terrace area by Robert Bonner, who was then Governor General for BC. It was a job he did for some ten years, and he not only relished the role, but also established himself as a fair man throughout the duration of his tenure.

Larry was known for his quiet humour and gentle presence. He was a loving husband, doting father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His measured intelligence was evident in his business success, and he loved to be around his family and friends

He and Muriel were married for 75 happy years, and in addition to their three children, Carolyn (Bob), David (Danielle) and Dale. They enjoyed time with their 4 grandchildren, Allison, Brian (Natalie), Ryan (Jessie) and Trevor as well as their 4 great-grandchildren, Brendan, Cole, Nathan and Mathis. Their special name for him was "Bomba", and he was proud of them all. Larry will be missed, but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 1:30 pm, as it would have been his 102nd birthday. Please join us at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Rd, Courtenay, BC V9N 3R6.
