Karlene Clark

It is with great sadness that we announce that Karlene Margaret Clark, a longtime resident and business owner in Terrace passed away on May 25, 2022 in Prince George BC. Karlene was born on October 27, 1949 in New Westminster, BC to Margaret and Leo Kukkola, now both deceased.​ Her older sister Katherine McLeod passed away only weeks later in Merritt, BC. Karlene was predeceased by brother John (Shirley) Kukkola, brother Karl (Ruth) Kukkola, and grandson Connor Itani. She is survived by her husband and longtime Terrace resident, Ron Clark of Terrace, BC, daughters Tracey (Derek) Itani of Kelowna, BC, ​and ​Sheri Clark of Prince George, BC​, along with many nieces, nephews and their children.​
Karlene took her Esthetics training in London, England in 1967 and returned to Terrace in December of that year where she met​ her future husband,​ Ron Clark. They were married on March 22, 1969​, and started the family they always wanted​. ​A natural leader with a passion for making people look and feel their best, Karlene established her Hair and Esthetics business (Images by Karlene) in 1989 in Terrace and operated it successfully​ for 30 years,​ until she retired in 2020.
Karlene was​ ​​also ​very active in the community, ​always eager to help out in any way she could, from volunteering to do seniors' hair, to helping judge at the hair school, to canvassing for local charities. Her love of community service led her to involvement with numerous local organizations, including Meals on Wheels, ​the ​Terrace Child Development Centre, ​the Terrace and District Community Services Society (​T​​DCSS), ​The Dr. ​R​.​E​.​M​.​ Lee ​Hospital ​Foundation, ​​and ​the ​Skeena Valley Rotary​ Club​. She ​was also involved with activities in the Terrace Riverboat Days celebration​s​, including parade marshal. ​ ​
​Please join us at the Royal Canadian Legion in Terrace, BC at 12:00pm on September 23rd, 2022​ for a memorial service for Karlene​, so we can celebrate the little lady who made such a big impact.
