In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that the Axelson family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Judy (nee Westcott). Judy left us on the evening of June 7th. She leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Paul. She also leaves behind children Keith (Kelley), and Vikki (Rob), grandchildren Taylor, Rianna (Steve), Kieron, Brenna and Erin, and great-grandchildren Landon and Grayson. Judy also leaves behind two brothers, George (Karen) and Mark (Laura) Westcott, as well as many nieces and nephews, and other close and dear friends.
Judy was born in London, England and along with her older brother Mike and mother Ena, emigrated to Canada after World War II where the family moved to Vancouver. She met her future husband Paul in University and on August 17, 1963, the two were married. Shortly after marrying Paul, he convinced Judy to move north to the community of Terrace for a year. They never left, and together taught in Terrace schools for over 30 years before retiring. Judy developed a reputation as a caring and dedicated teacher and colleague to so many students and educators. She was known to all for her quick wit and deep caring for others.
To Judy, family was everything, and she lovingly doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with Paul. She missed no opportunity to brag about her grandchildren to anyone who would listen, and mostly tolerated her children! She will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. The Axelson family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Mills Memorial Hospital, especially the staff of the Intensive Care Unit, for their efforts and care extended to Judy and the family. There will be a celebration of life for Judy on August 21st from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club.
