In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce Ron's passing. Ron was fully at peace when he passed away, looking forward to resurrection day. He was surrounded with love in his last days, having his loving family and wife at his side.
Ron grew up in Duncan, the brother of Bob (Marlene) of Summerland, Frank (Gail) of Crofton, and Linda Quesnell (Daryl), Cher (Dale) Schneider, Bev Shillito all of Duncan. Ron left home at 16 and went logging.
He married Edith Nelson, became a steam engineer, and worked in Prince Albert Sask, Fort Frances Ont, and then settled in Kitimat, working at Eurocan till his retirement in 2004.
He and Edith divorced and he moved to Terrace with their 3 children: Al, Gina (Gord Dorfer) and Colette. He met and married Delphine Smyth and became stepfather to her 3 children: Jason Smyth (Sheena) Titan Smyth (Nikki) and Delphine (Dan) Kensley,
Ron and Delphine directed the Bread of Life soup kitchen from Sept 1996 to Mar 22, 2020 when covid and Ron's health made it impossible to continue.
Ron was a devoted member of the Terrace Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was able to attend the worship service on the last Sabbath of his life and all who attended were able to express their love and say their last goodbyes.
That service is available on facebook at "Terrace SDA church family"; a farewell to our friend Ron Dame, and on "You Tube: Ron Dame" for all who would like to feel a part of it, as no funeral will be held.
Ron's favorite cause was always the soup kitchen so anyone desiring to contribute to the memory of his work in the community is encouraged to make a donation to the Terrace Seventh Day Adventist church: All Nations Center account. It will go toward keeping the center maintained while the KALUM Community School Society continues to operate free food distribution programs just as Ron did.
