Born in Holland, John immigrated to Edmonton, AB in the early 1950's. He later relocated to Terrace, BC for the next 50 years. After his retirement from Vic Froese Trucking in 2004, John and his wife Marge found the Okanagan sun in Penticton, where they spent the remainder of his years.
John had two sons, with his first wife Patricia Harper - Mike and Steve. After Patricia passed away in 1985, John married his second wife Marge Skead and became the bonus father to her sons Randy and Kelvin.
John's absence will leave an irreplaceable void within those who loved him: wife - Marge Skead; Children - Steve and Aimee Dewacht; Mike Dewacht; Randy and Tonja Skead; Grandchildren - Karson and Tie Dewacht, and Colton, Brendan, and Mallory Skead; Sisters - Rolie de Boer and Tena Bergman; Brother and Sister in-laws - Sharon and Paul Weinberger, Gladis and George Lewis, and Harvey Anweiler; and the countless friends he made along his journey.
