In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Hans.
Hans came to Canada in 1961 from Austria to escort his sister Maria as she made the journey across the ocean with her future husband. He was attracted by the freedom to hunt and fish in Canada and decided to stay. He worked in Dryden, Ontario in the lumber industry learning the Welding trade and eventually became a Fabricator.
He met Deanna in Dryden and they headed out West to begin their journey together. They were married in Salmon Arm where John was born but decided to head north to find the mountains and work.
Terrace is where they settled and added Philip, Lynda and Andy to their family.
Hans worked at several different welding companies until he was forced into early retirement due to a back injury. He was forever a craftsman building two homes and continued to build and create many projects including stained glass lamps, portable sawmills, trailers, furniture and carving to name only a few.
Hans will forever be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He always looked out for those that needed an extra hand and spent many hours helping others with projects. His mind was always working and was full of ideas on how to get the job done.
His grandchildren were fortunate to have all those years with him. He spoiled them and loved spending time with them. They will always cherish the lively domino games played all together.
Moose hunting trips with his friends and the boys were always exciting times. Many cherished memories and stories came from every trip. He passed his love of the outdoors and hunting on to his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife Deanna and children John (Diane), Philip (Renee) and Lynda (Chad) and his grandchildren Kayden, Natasha, Bella, Juliet, Chelsey and Grace.
He is predeceased by his son Andy.
He leaves behind many cherished friends. He kept in touch and never forgot his Austrian roots and his friends and family in East Tyrol, Austria & Germany.
We will think of Hans/Dad and his strength whenever we are in need of advice or a pep talk. He will forever be missed and remembered for the hardworking and generous man that he was. Our wish for him is that he has hiked to the top of the tallest mountain and is happy and now carefree.
A celebration of life for Hans will be held this summer to remember all of the wonderful times we shared.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
