Joan Frances Marr
(nee Avison)
was born Dec. 14, 1929 in Winnipeg,
Manitoba to Mary and Harry Avison, the third of six children.
She passed away at home in Terrace at the age of 76 on April 10, 2006. She was tended by her daughters, her niece Jo Anne ten Brink and grandchildren who were grateful for the excellent care and support of community nurses.
Joan is survived by her three daughters Mary McDougall, Barbara Ames, Linda Marshall and 11 grandchildren:
Jennifer Rigby, Peter, Brendan and Brittany McDougall, Kate,
Matthew and Jessica Ames, Philip and Cameron Marshall and James and
Justin Schritt; sisters Anne Graber and Liz Avison; brothers Tom and Dick
Avison. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Slaughter.
In 1950 Joan graduated from McGill. She raised her family with husband Hazen Marr in Pickering, Ontario. Joan was a dietician at Mills Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
A memorial tea will be held at 4608 Tuck Ave. Sat. April 15th
from 2-6 p.m.
