With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our mother, Jeanette Siemens. Mom - who had recently turned 80 - passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at home on February 17, 2021 after a very short illness.
Known for her infectious laugh, Jeanette worked many years as a nurse at Mills Memorial Hospital. Since her retirement she did anything but slow down! She was proud of her multiple medals she won at the BC Senior Games (and those close to her will know the story of the gold medal that she was robbed of!) In addition to her many volunteer activities, loved to spend time with friends be that bowling, dinners, or - her true home away from home and the place that gave her the most joy in the world - The Happy Gang Centre.
Jeanette was born in Lunenburg County Nova Scotia and after time in Saskatchewan - where she met our father, Niel - and Alberta came to Terrace in 1979 for what she agreed would be a 2-year stint. Like many, 2 years turned into never wanting to leave as she had found her home.
Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Almira Lohnes and the love of her life, her husband Niel, Jeanette is survived by her children Vince (Jodie), Corwin (Kam) and Alison (Brett). She was also the very proud Nana to Kohl, Kayd, Krayg, Tyler, Samantha, Mya and Drew. She is also survived by her brothers Richard (Janet) and Eugene (Wendy), brothers-in-law Jerry, Dwayne and Willis, plus many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
The family would like to thank the incredible Palliative Care nurses from Northern Health for the amazing support and compassion they provided in Mom's final days. Truly an amazing group of women that Mom felt blessed to be with her during this journey - as we all did.
We will miss you Mom (or Nana as she was called by many). We know you are back with Dad so you don't have to miss him anymore. We miss you terribly and will continue to laugh as you taught us to do!
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Happy Gang Centre in Terrace, BC.
