In loving memory ~
Jean Dixon passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 18, 1935, in Westlock, Alberta, Jean's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Jean's early years were spent in Westlock, and after a brief stay in Vancouver, her family settled in Prince Rupert. It was here that Jean met and married the love of her life, Gordon Dixon, in 1952. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming their children, Boyd and Valarie, who brought immense joy and pride to their lives.
In 1958, Jean and Gordon moved to Terrace, a place that would become their lifelong home. Jean dedicated many of her working years to the Terrace CO-OP and the Terrace & District Credit Union, where she was known for her hard work and friendly demeanor.
Jean was a past member of the Kinette Club, and from 1985 to 1987, she served with distinction as the Legion Ladies Command President.
Upon retirement, Jean found immense pleasure in maintaining her yard and cultivating her beautiful flower beds. Her garden was a testament to her love for nature and her talent for creating beauty in her surroundings.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Valarie Hansen (Dennis Ward), and her cherished grandsons, Trevor Hansen (Theresa) and Brad Hansen (Lorie). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Rebecca, Cody (Amanda), and Zachery, and a great-great-grandmother to Micah and Esmae, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family remembers her as a nurturing and supportive figure who brought warmth and love into their lives.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon and her son Boyd, both of whom she held close in her heart until her last days.
In accordance with Jean's wishes, there will not be a public service. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Jean Dixon will be deeply missed
by her family and friends.
