Irene Wells

June 16, 2006

Irene Lillian Wells (Oakes)

Irene (Rene) Wells passed away peacefully with her

daughter at her side on June 16, 2006 in 100 Mile House, B.C.

Predeceased by her best friend and beloved husband of 69 years Ronald Gladstone Wells on April 16, 2006, she leaves a legacy of love of family, laughter and genuine kinship for people from all walks of life.

Born in Chilliwack on May 15, 1911 to William Frederick and Caroline Emma Oakes (Mercer) she was predeceased by her parents, one sister Vera Brimacombe (Bob), twin brothers Lyle and Lloyd (Dorothy) Oakes and one great granddaughter.

Rene was a bright light to her family as well as to the many friends that she encountered as she accompanied her aviator husband on a life of adventure. From cross Canada postings with the Air Force during World War II to wilderness living in northern B.C. during the 1980’s, she never failed to share the load and to capture the hearts of everyone who met her.

At her request no service was held, but family and friends are encouraged to celebrate her remarkable life by remembering her non judgemental support for all people, her bright smile and contagious spirit of fun.

The Wells family wishes to sincerely thank and acknowledge the 100 Mile Home Support and Hospital staff for the extraordinary care and respect that Rene received during the years when she needed a little extra help.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Vera Wells, her son Ronald Blaine Wells (Gayle), granddaughters September Grychuk (Ron), Shannon Fry (Dwayne) and great granddaughters Kaitlyn, Elizabeth and Samantha Grychuk and Jamie, Crystal, Kelly and Hannah Fry.

100 Mile Funeral Service entrusted with arrangements.
