Ingrid Maria Lubke (nee Steinkellner)

July 20, 1939 - August 10, 2017

Ingrid was born in St. Gallen Austria and was orphaned at the age of 6. She lived with her Grandmother, until her and Aunt & Uncle brought her to Vancouver in 1953.

She worked as a nanny and then as a waitress, where she met her husband, Manfred. Together they moved north and finally settled in Terrace in 1960, where they built their home and started their family. Together they raised 4 children.

Ingrid had a brief battle with cancer and through quick diagnoses and aggressive treatment was able to beat it. On Nov.15 2008, Manfred her husband of 49 years passed away.

Mom returned to Austria for only the second visit in 56 years to reconnect with family, it was long overdue.

Mom lived alone, in the only home she knew, until the day of her passing.

Mom loved animals, both furry and feathered, and most of all she loved "big bear hugs" from her grandchildren.

Mom was kind and generous and very forgiving. Mom did not have an easy life and she deserved better.

Mom was much loved and we would have given anything to make her life happier. We hope she is in a better place.

She leaves behind her children, Adolf (Renate), Alfy (Eva), Conchita (Keith), Ralph (Dawn), 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous relatives in Austria.
