August 27, 2018
Sadly, we announce the passing of Howard Boake on August 27, 2018 in the Vancouver General Hospital. He is survived by his beloved partner, Jim; children Bill, Jim, Ken and Lee (Alan); 12 grandchildren; and many family and friends.

Howard was born in Chilliwack in 1937, the son of Ken and Winifred Boake. As the youngest of three children, he lived a typical happy- go-lucky 1950's life and graduated from Chilliwack Senior High School.

He arrived in Terrace in the mid 1960's with his wife, Joan and sons, Bill and Jim. There the family built a future with Howard driving logging trucks and big rigs. Many

a driver has said they would sooner drive the Howard than anyone because he always had their back. If you were broken down on the side of the road it was always Howard who could be counted on to stop and help. A rich tribute to his generosity.

Although he enjoyed a quiet life, Howard and Jim were trail blazers in the gay community. In 2003 they were the first same-sex wedding performed in Terrace.

As now we wave goodbye, we know Howard has gone to pull in behind a new sidelined truck and jump from the cab with his cheery "need any help"? His kindness and thoughtfulness will always remain legendary.

As per Howard's request, there will be no funeral service.
