In Loving Memory ~
Dad passed away peacefully with mom at his side after vigorously battling heart failure. Not a man to give up easily, dad was determined to get his drivers license back and win the lottery before he died, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be. He and mom really enjoyed RV traveling and getting behind the wheel again was quite the topic of conversation. After 64 years of marriage, they covered a lot of territory.
Coming from a farm outside Nipawin in northern Saskatchewan, with a bit of a Mennonite/Dutch background, dad had a work ethic like no other; never really officially retiring. He always had to have something on the go and conversation over coffee about business and politics was always a favorite as well as a good game of cards.
Dad most recently said coffee was "the elixir of life" even if it meant drinking it from a spoon! You would see him frequently having coffee at Denny's or the A&W where many of his coffee buddies still hang out. Not a man to share his feelings with anyone directly I know Dad really appreciated the friendships he had during those coffee times.
Dad has left a legacy of family, having 2 sons, 7 grandsons, and 12 great grandchildren. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren in their commitment to love of family and a strong willingness to work hard. Dad was a big presence in our lives, and he is very loved and dearly missed.
The Wiebe family would like to sincerely thank the Physicians, Nurses and staff at MMH and TVL for their compassionate care, with a special thank you to Dr. Strydom and Dr. Drouin, whom without, we could not have made this difficult journey.
