Former long-time Terrace resident Helmut Reinert, 86, died August 15, 2022, at his home in Derwent, Alberta. He is now with his Lord, and his wife Lydia.
Helmut was born on April 14, 1936, in Radziborz, Poland. He emigrated to Canada from Germany in 1952, and met his wife of 53 years Lydia, shortly thereafter. Eventually moving to Kitimat, and then to Terrace, they founded a construction company responsible for building numerous homes and commercial properties in both cities, and had two children. He would live in Terrace until only a few years before his passing.
Helmut's deep faith in God informed his life completely and was responsible for a life-long pursuit of theological knowledge and spiritual understanding.
He is survived by his sons Tim (Jennifer) and Terry (Mary), and his grandchildren Payden, Colin, and Nathan.
A memorial will be held in Terrace on the weekend of November 11, with details to be provided at a later date.
