In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Helene Cam. She passed away peacefully at Terraceview Lodge, the evening of May 7th, with family by her side.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Theo Cam. Helene is survived by her son Rene (Sharon), grandsons Javen (Bailey), Julian (Britney); son Daniel (Nathalie), granddaughters Hannah (Madison), Danicah, Nathania, Nadina, Avryl; son Philippe, grandchildren Dominic (his mother Amanda), Kaleigh (Brent), Daroyle, great-grandson Greyson (their mother Michale); daughter Josiane (Glenn), grandson Ryan (Cassandra), great-grandchildren Mason, Linden, grandson Danny, great-grandchildren Ty, Cohen, Ella, grandchildren Brittany (Zach), Ethan; son Pascal (Anuschka), granddaughter Katrina; daughter Denise (Bertrand), grandchildren Alyssa, James, Anthony. Helene is also survived by her sister Rose Kolly (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and brother Rene LeDevehat (Winnipeg, Manitoba).
Helene was born at LaHoguette, Normandy, France to Mathurin LeDevehat and Albertine Sibilleau; one of 6 children. She immigrated to Canada November 1953 as a young nurse's aid working at the old St. Boniface Hospital in Manitoba where she resided with the nuns. Mom loved to travel with her friends, often returning to France for visits and even attended the World's Fair Exposition in Brussels.
She met the love of her life, Theo Cam, 7 years later in Kitimat, BC and were married in St. Claude, Manitoba September 17, 1960. They settled in Terrace, BC and raised 6 children. The house was always full of love and laughter, and everyone was welcome. She was a hard-working wife and mother, bookkeeper, and the manager of everything. She assisted dad with his company, Cam Contracting Co. Ltd, and managed their rental apartments, all while maintaining a household of kids, pets, and a large flourishing garden.
Mom loved being around her family and was most content being with her husband Theo. She is with Dad now, which is the only place she truly wanted to be. She loved to garden and loved flowers; you may wish to plant a flower in her memory.
Our family is grateful to all who called to check on mom and came by to visit her at Terraceview Lodge with flowers and her favorite treats. Our special thanks to all the exceptional Terraceview staff, Dr. Scott McCoach, Dr. Bukhres, Sacred Heart Parish, CWL, MacKay's Funeral Services and Fiori Design for helping us through this difficult time.
Funeral mass was held May 13, 2022, at Sacred Heart Parish in Terrace, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helene's name will be lovingly appreciated from the Terraceview Lodge - Copper Unit, the Alzheimer's Society of BC, or a charity of your choice.
