September 12, 1949 - September 15, 2021
Helen was born in Rose Valley Saskatchewan to Otto and Karine Sandaker. At the age of 5 she rode the train with her family to Salmon Arm BC where she grew up. She became a hairdresser before meeting her husband. Victor and Helen were married on March 21,1970 in Salmon Arm. In January 1971 Terrace became her home. Helen was a very talented woman who loved to quilt, draw, paint, garden, watch curling, do puzzles, play games and watch or read a good mystery.
Her faith in God was very strong. She attended church services and bible studies. She kept a cross and a penny poem in her wallet as a reminder that God and the angels were always with her.
Helen is predeceased by her husband Victor, her sister Lila and brother Skip.
Helen is survived by her children Andy (Sandra) Hoffman, Nadine (Dean) Turner and Trevor (Vanessa) Hoffman; her grandchildren Victoria (Terrance) Van Horlick, Marlee Hoffman, Connar Hoffman, Alaina Hoffman and Ethan Hoffman; her siblings Oline, Elida, Clara, Cecil, Margy, Melvin and Lucy.
A service was held September 21,2021 at the Terrace Christian Reformed Church. It was live streamed to include all who wanted to attend and is still available through YouTube at terracecrc.org.
Helen fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Helen always supported her local community with volunteering, fundraising or just lending a helping hand.
