In Loving Memory (1940-2024) ~
Dawne entered the world in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at sunup on the second day of June 1940, Jack and Helen (Massey) Fuhr's firstborn. Dawne's two brothers, Doug, and Alan (Tannie) followed soon after.
Jack and Helen raised their brood on the lake at Okanagan Landing. Dawne went to UBC Vancouver and graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) in 1962. She married an army brat she had met two years before, Dave, in August 1962 in the All Saints Anglican Church in Vernon with her uncle, the Reverend Des Holt presiding.
Dawne's husband, Dave, graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from UBC Vancouver.
Dawne has moved around through Dave's forestry career living in Richmond, Dawson Creek, Salmon Arm, Prince George, Golden and Terrace. Her firstborn, Jennifer, arrived at Richmond Hospital and Michael arrived four years later at Prince George Hospital.
Dawne commenced her teaching career at Ladner Elementary School in Delta, taking a hiatus when her children arrived.
Dawne was a stay-at-home mom until Mike was in junior high school in Terrace when she resumed her teaching career teaching at Uplands Elementary and Thornhill Elementary.
Through the years Dawne made friends all over, enjoying golf, playing cards, bowling, camping, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, and various Vernon reunions.
She was a wonderful wife, an outstanding mother and to many a kind, witty and considerate friend.
Dawne is deeply missed and will be held forever in our hearts.
