In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Larry Janzen, who died on February 5, 2025, at Kysen Regional Hospital in Terrace, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Harold was born on May 22, 1948, in Chilliwack, BC, to Jake and Lorna Janzen. He was the eldest of five siblings: Magdeline, Carol-Ann, Irene, and Mark. Throughout his childhood, the Janzen family lived in various communities across British Columbia—Burns Lake, Decker Lake, Richmond, and Abbotsford—but Harold always spoke most fondly of Rosswood. In his early teens, the family settled in Terrace, where fate introduced him to his future wife, Theresa Cruzelle, who lived just a few doors down and was close friends with his sister Meg.

Harold and Theresa were married on October 25, 1969, at Terrace Pentecostal Assembly. Together, they built a life in Terrace, raising their family and making countless memories through camping, hunting, and fishing adventures. Some of their best times were spent exploring the coastline in his beloved cabin cruiser.

Over the years, Harold worked as a grader operator and handled many types of heavy equipment including loaders, Cats, and excavators. He also drove truck and lent his skill and work ethic to several employers, including the Department of Highways, Eurocan, Shell Oil, and Friel Lake Logging.

In his younger years, Harold had a passion for 4x4 racing, earning a wall full of trophies and a lifetime of stories. He was known for his quick wit, loved a good laugh, and never missed a chance to tease—especially if it got a chuckle.

Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa Janzen; daughter Jaime Wiebe (Dallas); son Matthew Janzen; and granddaughter Nellie Reinhardt (Greg). He is also survived by his sisters Magdeline Ertman and Carol-Ann Rauschenberger (Gunther).

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him—and remembered every time someone shares a joke with a glint in their eye.
