In Loving Memory ~

We are heartbroken to announce that Gordie passed away on August 14th at Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, BC after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He is predeceased by his parents Robert Edward Sheridan and Edna Grace Sheridan (née Gauld), as well as sister-in-law Barb, nephew Avery, niece Grace and beloved dogs Sidney and Simon.

Gordie leaves behind his loving spouse of 30 years, Dawn, daughters Gráinne (Doug), Naoise (Matt) and Aisling (Mick) , stepchildren Kevin (Ricki) and Michelle (Alex) and grandchildren Addison, Noah, Joshua, Maeve, Nia and Rory.

He also leaves behind siblings Danny (Moira), Jane (Wayne), Wayne (Lynne), Bobby (Denise) and Tracy (Gregg) as well as his many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Gordie was born in Terrace BC and enjoyed a childhood full of capers with neighbourhood friends. After graduation he studied drama and pursued a career as an actor in London, Dublin and Belfast. After returning to Canada he became a realtor and even served as the president of the Northwest Real Estate Board.

Gordie went back to school at the age of 50 and graduated with his Bachelor of Social Work. He worked as a mental health clinician for several years and developed creative ways to build trust and help people.

After his retirement he focused on writing, creating several screenplays and two children's books.

Gordie was a fascinating person who lived life with genuine curiosity and an open mind. He was passionate about cooking foods from all over the world, often made from veggies from his incredible garden. He loved learning about medicinal plants and even created his own teas, tinctures and creams that people swear by.

He was a talented musician who could hear a song and figure out how to play it moments later. He loved mysteries and documentaries on topics ranging from evolution to true crime and anything unusual. Most of all, he loved relaxing with Dawn at their beautiful home at Usk. Gordie will probably be best remembered for his great sense of humour and elaborate pranks he played on friends and colleagues through the years.

A memorial will be held in Terrace, BC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to BC Cancer Society or the Mills Memorial Hospital.
