Gerry Reinhardt

1929 - 2008

Gerhardt (Gerry) Reinhardt was born in Lydiatt, Manitoba on December 28, 1929 to Daniel and

Elizabeth Reinhardt, the youngest of 9 children. His parents farmed in Manitoba until 1946 when they moved to Chilliwack, B.C. and took up farming on Annis Rd. He and his brother Ernie, farmed the land until 1966. He then worked clearing the right of way for the power lines near Boston Bar, and later worked for Fraser Valley Frosted Foods as a millwright.

In 1960 he married Margaret and in 1961 their son David was born and a year and half later their second son, Les, was born. In 1967 Shelley was added to the family, followed by Leana in 1970.

In September of 1969 the family moved to Terrace and bought their home on Scott Ave. Gerry worked as a millwright and mechanic until a stroke in 1993 forced his early retirement. Even though his health was deteriorating, he always found a project to keep himself busy.

He entered the hospital on Friday, May 23, 2008 and passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 25, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Margaret, son Dave, son Les and Tracy and their children Kara and Todd, daughter Shelley and Eddy and their children Dan and Amy, daughter Leanna and her children Kimberly and Greg.

Also survived by his sister Lil Albright of Beausejour, Manitoba, sister Irma Arlt of Chilliwack, B.C., sister-in-law Erna Reinhardt of Vernon, B.C., and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Gerry’s Life was held on May 30, 2008 at the Terrace

Alliance Church in Terrace, B.C.
