Fern was a WWII veteran having served with the Royal 22nd Regiment. After the war, he made his way west from Quebec to Alberta where he met and married his sweetheart Henriette in 1953. Fern and Henriette settled in Terrace in 1960 with their two young children and had two more children in Terrace.

Fern worked as a faller and retired from the construction industry at the age of 65. He was a quiet man (except maybe when watching the Habs!) and remained very active with the Legion, the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Happy Gang Centre, bowling and the Senior Games. He regularly walked downtown.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Henriette, and their four children: daughter: Pauline (Bob)-children-Vera (Jay), Andrea (Justin), Jeffery+ Rebecca (Shaun), sons: Jules, Emile (Shelley)-children-Darci (Brett), Kristi, Hailey, Amy+ Jackson and Donald.

Fern passed away unexpectedly.

We still can't believe he's gone.

Forever in our Hearts
